contemporary jewelry, necklaces, rings, and bracelets handmade in Seattle

Seattle Bride magazine feature

Check out the current issue of Seattle Bride for a special piece on creating wedding and engagement rings using heirloom gemstones & metals.   Featured is a custom ring I designed for Siem Reeves of Dunedin, New Zealand.   Re-using the diamonds from her original engagement ring we re-worked them into a modern and contemporary design to commemorate her 10th wedding anniversary.

Handcrafted Jewelry Show

You are invited to a

Handcrafted Jewelry Show

Featuring new jewelry from Linnie Kendrick,
Yuko Tanaka & Amy Bixby

Thursday December 15th, from 5 – 9pm at Venue

This year I am joined by two jewelry artists new to Venue; Linnie Kendrick and Yuko Tanaka.

I think you will really appreciate the addition of their unique and well-crafted work to the show this year.

Linnie’s jewelry consists of detailed enamel work, sparkling swingset earrings and delicate wire leaf shapes in silver and bronze.

Yuko takes vintage kimono fabric and creates clean contemporary designs to form both pendants and playful double-sided earrings.

My latest pieces feature granulated gold, oxidized silver and wintery gemstones. Also new, is my line of contemporary cufflinks in Sterling silver.

This is a great opportunity to find something unique for your loved ones these holidays (not to mention yourself!) and support local artists in doing so.

Please join us for a glass of wine, a few nibbles and the release of our brand new collections.
We would love to see you there…
~ Amy.

New Studio

Studio VR 1My new studio in “Frellard” is a place where I can chat with you in person about your project ideas as well as bash about with my hammers and roll out metal using my brand spanking new rolling mill (pictured bottom left).

If you have been considering an idea  or have some thoughts you would like to explore further for a jewelry design, shoot me an email to set up an appointment – I love interruptions.
Click here to see some of my latest custom pieces.

If you do not live in the Seattle area – no problem, we can do the entire process via email.  With Christmas and holidays just around the corner now is a good time to think about what you would like to get your loved ones this year (ahem… custom jewelry perhaps?)
Don’t forget I also make men’s jewelry – unique cufflinks and manly rings!

Go All Blacks!!!

The Rugby World Cup is underway in New Zealand!   If you haven’t watched rugby before and you live in the United States tune in to Universal Sports on Channel 5.2.  It’s an awesome game to watch and New Zealand of course, is going to win it!!

For those of you lucky enough to be in New Zealand right now
Gallery De Novo in Dunedin has a rotating exhibition during the cup games which is well worth checking out in between games.   For this exhibition I wanted to create pieces that represented our national team but also offered something different to the more traditional New Zealand themed jewellery.   Using unique stones like Dendrite Opal & Dendritic Quartz paired with contrasting oxidized & brite silver I created a special collection that is as bold & strong as our mighty All Blacks!  Well, maybe not quite as bold & strong as them, but as far as jewellery goes these pieces have a definite power to them.  Take a look at the photos below and if you are in Dunedin do stop by Gallery De Novo for a look-see.

ID Fashion Week in Dunedin

Dunedin’s iconic iD Fashion Week is now in it’s 7th year and continues to be an event that brings Dunedin to life.  Showcasing unique fashion design from emerging and established designers not only from New Zealand but internationally as well.

This year I was thrilled to receive an invitation from Gallery De Novo to be part of STYLISED, an exhibition in conjunction with iD Fashion Week that runs April 5th – 10th.
